In clinic, Jess loves to test. This removes any guesswork and uncovers the root cause of your symptoms as swiftly as possible.

Testing does come at an additional cost and so will only be utilised if absolutely required.

The most common tests Jess uses are:

  •  Blood testing
  •  Complete microbiome mapping
  •  Metabiome; comprehensive gut microbiome analysis.
  • SIBO testing
  • Adrenocortex stress profile
  • Female hormone basic profile
  •  Thyroid hormone profile

A Deeper Look into each Test

Analysis of your blood results using ranges indicative of optimal health and not just the absence of deficiency or disease. Testing and results are often obtained through GP and covered by medicare.

The Complete Microbiome Mapping Test was designed to assess a patient’s microbiome from a single stool sample, with particular attention to microbes that cause disease or that disrupt the normal microbial balance, contribute to perturbations in the GI flora, and contribute to illness. The panel is a comprehensive collection of microbial targets as well as immune and digestive markers. It screens for pathogenic bacteria, commensal bacteria, opportunistic pathogens, fungi, viruses, and parasites.

Common conditions: IBS/IBD, Abdominal cramps or pain, leaky gut symptoms, SIBO, Allergies, Weakness, Diarrhoea, Bloating, Fatigue.

MetaBiome reports on your gut microbiome diversity, the microbial species present, as well as their collective functional output, which are linked to various states of health and disease. It is based on 11 metagenomic markers that are the most scientifically validated and relevant microbial metabolites and gut-based markers. From this testing I will be able to:

  • Gain insight into your overall gut health and what functions are performing or underperforming.
  • Learn which microorganisms are in your gut and what they might be doing.
  • Identify overgrowths of a particular species within your microbiome.
  • Monitor how your microbiome changes with diet and lifestyle adjustments.
  • Identify any issues of inflammation in your gut microbiome.

I will transform this data into a personalised treatment plan; including diet, lifestyle, nutrition supplements, and herbal ingredients to modulate the composition and function of your microbiome.

SIBO or Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth is the leading cause of IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. In fact, 60-70% of IBS cases are caused by SIBO. Therefore, symptoms of SIBO are very similar to IBS: gas/bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, cramping. As well as other symptoms such as; acid reflux, acne rosacea, intestinal permeability symptoms (food sensitivities, joint pain, brain fog, etc.)SIBO causes hydrogen, methane, and/or hydrogen sulphide gas production. These gases cause the symptoms of IBS but also damage the intestinal wall. Testing for SIBO involves measuring these gases via an at-home breath test.

The Adrenocortex hormone profile is a non-invasive saliva test that serves as a reliable marker of the stress response and a critical tool for revealing adrenal imbalances. Lifestyle, physical and psychological stresses put constant demands on the adrenal glands.Salivary cortisol testing is an effective test that evaluates bioactive levels of the body’s important stress hormones, cortisol, and DHEA. This hormone test (stress test) serves as a critical tool for uncovering biochemical imbalances underlying anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, obesity, dysglycemia, and a host of other clinical conditions that may affect our day-to-day lives.

Hormones are crucial to a woman’s reproductive health. The main hormones affecting the menstrual cycle and fertility are produced by glands in the brain and by the ovaries. Those hormones regulate menstruation, fertility, and sex drive (libido) – any one of which can be adversely affected if the production of these hormones goes out of balance. Salivary hormone measurements provide an accurate analysis of estrogens, progesterone, and testosterone.

Thyroid abnormalities are one of the most common endocrine disorders affecting millions worldwide. Thyroid hormones regulate; basal metabolic rate, development, growth, and reproduction of EVERY cell in our body. That means your brain, heart, lungs, liver, skin, tissues and other body parts depend on your thyroid to stay “powered up” and active. The thyroid profile (collected via serum blood test) is an extensive hormone test designed to provide a comprehensive analysis of thyroid hormone metabolism. It includes central thyroid gland regulation and activity, thyroid production and secretion, peripheral thyroid conversion, and thyroid autoimmunity. The Extensive thyroid panel allows the practitioner to pinpoint imbalances that may be causing chronic illnesses. The comprehensive panel measures levels of TSH, free T4, free T3, reverse T3, anti-TG antibodies, and anti-TPO antibodies.
